Our campuses are within easy access of public transport networks.
Getting to and from the main New Zealand Maritime School campus in the Auckland CBD is easy and convenient as we are located opposite the Britomart Transport Centre (trains and buses) and opposite the Ferry Terminal.
Trains on all lines depart from the Britomart Transport Centre on a regular basis and the bus routes into the CBD are in close vicinity to the school.
There is no car parking at the school, but there are a number of parking buildings in close vicinity. Casual, hourly and day parking rates apply and long term parking options can be arranged with parking providers.
There are also numerous cycleways and walkways that encourage cyclist and pedestrian commuter travel into downtown Auckland. There is a bike park in front of the school on Commerce Street but you are not permitted to bring bikes into the building. You will need to bring your own bike lock.
The Otara Bus Interchange is located on East Tamaki Road, close to Newbury Street and gives our students access to the public transport bus network.
We also have extensive car parking available at our North campus and at the Newbury Street carpark (South campus) which is free of charge, as well as some paid parking within both campuses.
The campus is also easily accessible to the Highbrook cycleway.
The MIT Manukau campus can be reached by all major transport routes. The Manukau train station is directly underneath the campus building, so you can travel by rail straight to the front door. All trains to Manukau are the new electric trains. If you are coming from the south you will need to swap trains at Puhinui.
Buses depart and arrive every 5–10 minutes during peak hour at the Westfield Shopping Centre, with MIT Manukau less than 750m away. Travel by bus will be even more convenient with the development of the new bus interchange directly outside the campus in 2016.
MIT Manukau has a Pay and Display carpark on site. The cost is $1 per hour up to a maximum of $4 for 7 hours. Charges apply between 7am and 5pm. Parking after 5pm is free. Vehicles that do not clearly display a valid ticket on the dashboard will be clamped. The release fee is $100 for non-students and $45 for students on producing evidence of a current Student ID.
In addition to the many bike parks around the campus, MIT Manukau has an access controlled secure bike cage, located by Hollywood Bakery under the stairwell. The bike cage has 44 vertical hanging bike parks and you will need to bring your own bike lock.
The AT HOP card will allow you greater cost savings, particularly under the student concession rate for full-time students - up to 30% discount off a normal adult cash fare. The AT HOP card is a reusable prepay smart card for travel around Auckland. You can use your AT HOP card on trains, ferries and buses in Auckland. All you need to remember is to tag on and then off at the end of your trip so your fare is deducted from your card.
For more information about student concessions, AT HOP cards, bus and train timetables or to purchase an AT Hop card go online to https://at.govt.nz or to speak to an AT customer service representative call 09 366 6400.
